Acceptable use
What a server may not be used for, and what happens if one is. Short, because most of it is obvious.
The short version
Run your game server. Do not use it to break the law, to attack anyone, or to run something that is not a game server.
Content
You are responsible for what is on your server and for what your players do on it.
- Nothing illegal under South African law
- Nothing that infringes someone else's copyright, including redistributing game files you do not have the right to share
- No content sexualising minors, which we report rather than merely remove
- No content whose purpose is to harass or incite violence against a person or group
Use of the network
The server is for hosting the game you ordered. It is not general purpose compute, and a few specific uses are out.
- No attacks of any kind launched from our network, including denial of service, scanning or brute forcing
- No cryptocurrency mining
- No using the server as a proxy, VPN exit or relay for other traffic
- No bulk or unsolicited email
- No deliberately trying to reach other customers' servers or the underlying host
Private access
Access is granted per person. Sharing one invite around to get more people onto a server than the plan allows is a breach of this policy rather than a clever workaround, and it is the one thing here that is genuinely tempting, so it is worth stating plainly.
The game's own rules
Every game has its own end user licence and server rules, and those apply to your server as well as ours. Where a game's publisher forbids a particular kind of server, we cannot authorise it regardless of what this policy says.
What happens if you breach this
For anything short of an emergency we contact you first and give you a chance to fix it. Suspension is a last resort, not a first response.
The exception is content or activity that is causing active harm, such as an attack in progress or material we are legally obliged to report. Those are stopped immediately and discussed afterwards.
Reporting something
Email [email protected] with what you found and where. Reports about content involving minors are escalated immediately and reported onward rather than simply removed.
